Please utilize the Options: Community Feedback tab to review the boundary options.

Why Are We Talking about Rezoning our Elementary Schools?

The purpose of the rezoning process is to rebalance enrollments among the elementary schools. Over time, populations have shifted within the community, causing imbalanced enrollments throughout the division. In addition, there are residential developments throughout the city that have the potential to produce a significant number of students, most of which fall within the current Summit Elementary and Jackson-Via Elementary school boundaries. Neither Summit Elementary or Jackson-Via Elementary are able to support modular classrooms on their site, and there is capacity to take in more students at other schools.

Get Involved

How to get involved: At the end of October, CCS will be hosting 3 community meetings, which are open to all. Community members are invited to come in and ask questions about the process and options, and provide feedback. These meetings are “open house” style, so please feel free to come when you’re able and stay as long as you are available. An online survey will also be made available to those who are unable to attend the meetings.

Rezoning Discussion Events:

  • Monday, October 28: Greenbrier, 5-7pm
  • Tuesday, October 29: Jackson-Via, 4-6pm
  • Wednesday, October 30: Summit, 5-7pm
  • Wednesday, November 6 (Zoom): 12-1:30pm (register here) and 6-7:30pm (register here)

Once the community feedback has been compiled, it will be taken to the rezoning committee for review and to discuss a boundary recommendation. The committee’s recommendation will then be presented to the community in a public hearing. During the public hearing, each area of change will be presented and reviewed, and stakeholders will be given the opportunity to speak to each area of change. We anticipate that the public hearing will occur in January 2025, but the official date and time has yet to be determined.
