Process Overview: <\/strong>This is a data- and community-driven redistricting process. We began by presenting the process and background datasets to the Board of Education on October 14th. During this time, we also introduced a boundary planning criteria survey that asked community members to provide their top priorities for redistricting. We will next use the survey response data to create boundary scenarios (scenarios have yet to be created). Once scenarios are created and finalized, they will be presented to the community for feedback (in December). The feedback that is received about the boundary scenarios will then be compiled into a report and used to inform the final boundary recommendation. The recommendation will then be provided to the Board of Education for approval.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information below explains each step in the process further: <\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data Review and Analysis:\u00a0<\/strong>Data pertaining to the geographies within the Middletown City Schools will be reviewed and analyzed throughout the process. Datasets pertaining to redistricting will be available under the Resources page of this website once available.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boundary Planning Criteria<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong><\/mark>A survey was available to community members from October 14th through October 30th to provide feedback on the criteria (or factors) that should be used when drawing boundary scenarios. The link above will take you to the results report.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scenario Creation:\u00a0<\/strong>This involves creating boundary scenarios. The feedback received from the Boundary Planning Criteria survey will be used to help inform boundary scenarios. Boundary scenarios will be available for community review in December.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Outreach: <\/strong>Along with keeping this website updated throughout this process, community meetings will be held in December for community members to speak with district staff and the consultant about the scenarios that are presented. A survey will also be available to those unable to attend. The feedback received during this time will be used to inform the final recommendation.<\/mark><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Meeting:<\/strong> On December 11th at 6 p.m., a community meeting will be held in the auditorium at Middletown High School. Prior to this meeting, a series of boundary options will be introduced, and community members will be asked to provide feedback about the options.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This meeting will be open-house style, and all community members are invited to attend. During this meeting, you will be able to review large maps, have conversations with the consultant and District representatives, and ask questions about the process and the boundary options.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scenario Revisions:\u00a0<\/strong>Boundary scenarios will be revised based on stakeholder feedback received during the community meeting and associated survey.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Board Discussion & Action:\u00a0<\/strong>Once a recommendation is finalized, it will be presented to the Board of Education for discussion and action. The recommendation will be announced in late January\/early February.<\/mark><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
