Why did CCS Undergo a Rezoning Process?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of the rezoning process is to rebalance enrollments among the elementary schools. Over time, populations have shifted within the community, causing imbalanced enrollments throughout the division. In addition, there are residential developments throughout the city that have the potential to produce a significant number of students, most of which fall within the current Summit Elementary and Jackson-Via Elementary school boundaries. Neither Summit Elementary or Jackson-Via Elementary are able to support modular classrooms on their site, and there is capacity to take in more students at other schools.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approved Boundaries<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, May 1st, the School Board voted unanimously to approve the recommended boundaries, set to be implemented over the next few years as housing developments begin to impact student populations. The image below shows the three phases of boundary changes. <\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase 1 <\/strong>includes small parcel changes that improve transportation and neighborhood continuity at schools, and do not impact any current students. This phase will be implemented at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase 2<\/strong> involves the area west of Kindlewood (Dice Street area) moving from Summit Elementary to Burnley-Moran Elementary. This phase will be implemented at the beginning of the 2027-28 school year.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase 3<\/strong> involves moving the Locust Grove neighborhood from Burnley-Moran Elementary to Greenbriar Elementary, The Meadows and Rose Hill areas moving from Greenbriar Elementary to Trailblazer Elementary, and Kindlewood moving from Summit Elementary to Burnley-Moran Elementary. This phase will be implemented at the beginning of the 2029-30 school year.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n
